Throughout her more than 20-year legal career, Carla has primarily focused on litigation, specifically personal injury law. In recent years she has narrowed her focus to defendant insurance claims and has relished the opportunity to work with stakeholders across a diverse range of industries with a view to achieving positive and practical outcomes.
Prior to undertaking defendant insurance work, Carla also acquired many years’ experiences acting for plaintiffs in various matters including motor vehicle, public liability and medical negligence claims. In a significant personal injury case, Carla collaborated with Pat Hall, former Director of Hede Byrne & Hall, and experienced Counsel to reach an out-of-court resolution for a young child left with cerebral palsy due to birth mismanagement. This resolution ensured the child’s remaining years were fulfilling and enabled proper care in the family home. Witnessing the parents’ remarkable strength during this adversity left a lasting impression on Carla.
