When is it a good idea to write your own will?

Even though it’s perfectly legal to draft your own will, you should only ever consider doing so without professional help if your wishes are simple. For example, if you’re married and:

  • You want to leave everything to your husband or wife, and
  • If they die before you, you want to leave everything to your children

If your circumstance are more complex than that, you should…

...leave it to a legal professional!

The biggest benefit of having a Solicitor draft your Will is that you are assured it will be legally valid and include all relevant legal and financial matters that need to be taken into consideration.

If you are considering writing your own Will our advice is to first take the opportunity to have a free consultation with one of our Estate Planning Lawyer. This could provide you with peace of mind that your last wishes will be fulfilled after your death.

If you’re still considering drafting your own Will, then you may have our solicitor review the document and keep a copy on file for the future. This way the solicitor can also ensure the Will is done properly and include what’s most important to you.
