What are Jennifer’s areas of expertise?
Jennifer has gained legal expertise in the areas of:
- Personal Injuries Law and Litigation
- Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance
- Workers’ Compensation
- Medical Negligence
- Public Liability
How has Jennifer’s work history added to her extensive legal knowledge and expertise?
Jennifer’s legal career commenced in 2007 when she worked as a paralegal for a leading law firm which provided advice to corporations, financial institutions and governments in several areas of law. After completing her law studies in 2009, Jennifer rose to the position of a lawyer immediately upon her admission to practise as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland. Armed with legal qualifications, Jennifer gained professional experience in the areas of medical negligence, public liability, workers compensation, CTP and personal injuries law. Through working for various reputable law firms, including a specialised defendant insurance litigation firm, Jennifer has developed an ability to respond quickly to changing demands and expectations.
Directly prior to joining the Hede Byrne & Hall team, Jennifer worked as a Senior Claims Advisor with a major national insurer, which gave her an exceptional understanding of the CTP claims process from inception. Her experience managing up to 160 claims at any one time, including litigated claims and complex/catastrophic claims, made her a highly sought after candidate for our Personal Injuries team.
Having rapidly grown from strength to strength, Jennifer has been given the responsibility to mentor and train less-experienced junior associates, paralegals and staff in her various roles. This is an aspect which Jennifer has particularly enjoyed as it has involved developing the ability to explain complex legal principles in a clear and straightforward manner, which is something appreciated by her clients.
Outside of the law
Before embarking on her legal career, Jennifer worked in the wedding industry as a Manager – a role that enabled her to develop and draw on her creative and business skills. As a working mum, she appreciates the challenges facing women in the workforce, and in the legal profession. As an outgoing and gregarious person, Jennifer enjoys cooking up a feast for family and friends (hopefully with produce from her garden), reading, travelling and meeting new people.
